Sunny Days Preschool
The preschool programming is research-based and aligned with Ohio’s Early Learning and Developmental Standards.
Mission Statement
The mission of Saint Rose ‘Sunny Days’ Child Care Center is to provide each child a safe, non-hurting, loving environment in which to grow and explore.
Program Highlights
Sunny Days was the first Star-rated center in Trumbull County by the State of Ohio in the Step Up To Quality Rating System www.StepUpToQuality.org, we are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children www.NAEYC.org, degreed teachers are in every classroom and sunny days has been in Girard for over 30 years.
All preschool classrooms use the Early Learning Content Standards to determine what to teach students. The Creative Curriculum is aligned with the Early Learning Content Standards. All parents have two parent/teacher conferences to discuss in detail their child’s progress throughout the year. All students are provided materials and experiences that are interesting, meaningful and developmental, and that are geared to the age of the child.
The philosophy of Sunny Days is that each child is a unique, individual human being and will be treated with love and respect, therefore, not forced to perform. We believe that children learn best through developmentally appropriate play and exploration of the environment around them.
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Welcome to Sunny Days! Thank you for your vote of confidence and I assure you that our program has a commitment to provide a quality educational beginning for your child. I’m excited about our partnership with you and your family to work together as a team as your child begins his/her educational journey. The entire staff will do everything possible to make the preschool experience very positive.
A variety of teaching methods are used in our classrooms to accommodate how each child learns. The center does follow the Creative Curriculum – a curriculum designed for early childhood programs based on the latest scientific research on how children develop and learn. This curriculum encompasses your child’s social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development. The teachers will document your child’s progression and discuss the results two times during the year in parent/teacher conferences; however, if at any time you feel you need to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss your child’s progression in more detail (other than the normal pick-up and drop-off conversation), you may do so by scheduling a meeting time at your convenience.
Again, welcome to Sunny Days and we look forward to spending time with your family throughout the year.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Pasivanis
