We are St. Rose Catholic School:
rooted in academic excellence and unwavering faith.
Founded in 1913 by Rev. Edward Kirby, St. Rose School has been a cornerstone of Catholic education in Girard, Ohio, for more than a century. The parish community, established in the late 19th century to serve the growing population of Catholic families in the Mahoning Valley, saw the need for a parish school to provide children with an education rooted in faith and academic excellence.
The original two-story school building, dedicated in January 1914, welcomed its first students that same year. Guided by the Dominican charism of prayer, study, service, and community, St. Rose has continually grown to meet the needs of each generation. Over the decades, new classrooms, specialized learning spaces, and modern technology have been added—allowing the school to provide a strong academic foundation while nurturing leaders of faith, scholarship, and service.
Today, St. Rose School serves students in preschool through eighth grade, combining a rich Catholic tradition with innovative instruction and a welcoming, family-oriented community. Our more than 110-year legacy reflects the dedication of parish leaders, families, teachers, and alumni who have worked together to ensure that the values of faith, excellence, and service remain at the heart of a St. Rose education.
Together, Saint Rose Catholic School, our staff and our families, can provide an atmosphere that encourages students to reach their academic potential, develop social skills and carry their teachings with them for a lifetime.
