For the week of January 15th – January 19th:

Reading: We will continue studying character traits using the story on page 178 in our textbooks titled, “The Cricket in Times Square” by George Selden. We will have a summative assessment on Friday.

English: This week we will begin singular possessive nouns. Opinion writing due this Tuesday.

Spelling: We will continue to study our Unit 16 spelling words. Test: There will be a test over Unit 16 Spelling Words on Friday.

Science: We will finish Unit 4 Lesson 3 by completing pages 196-200 in our textbooks. Test: There will be a test on Tuesday covering Unit 4 Lesson 3.

Religion: We will begin studying Chapter 5 titled, “Jesus, the Image of God”. This chapter discusses how Jesus is our role model.

*This is a rough outline of what is expected to be covered in class this week. My lesson plans are broken down into “I Can” statements so that students and parents have a clear understanding of what was accomplished that day in class.

-We will fill out graphic organizers analyzing character traits of different characters in the story.

English- W.4.9 Draw evidence from literary or informational texts to support analysis, reflection, and research.

  • We will research Martin Luther King JR, and write a reflection on his life.

Spelling- I can read, spell, and write Unit 16 words with /kw/ spelled qu or squ.

Unit 4 Lesson 3

– I can describe how changing ecosystems affect the organisms living there.

-I can explain how changes can cause extinction.

-In book complete pages 196-197.

Unit 1

-I can demonstrate mastery of Unit 1 by completing the Unit 1 review on pages 77-80.

-In this chapter we will discuss Jesus is our role model. As God’s divine Son, he shows us how to love others as God loves us.

– We will write a response journal reflecting on what we are thankful for about our lives and faith.

Thursday Reading- RL 4.2- I can determine the theme in a story and use that information to summarize it.

  • We will determine the theme in “The Cricket in Times Square” by George Selden and we will use that information to write a summary.

English- L.4.2 Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing.

  • We will continue to look at singular possessive nouns.
