What’s going on the Month of October

Each grade will dive right into their novels. We will be reading and discussing in class together.

6th grade Reading: Will be reading the novel “Wonder” by R.J. Palacio. The story is about August (Auggie) Pullman who was born with a facial deformity that prevented him from going to a mainstream school—until now. He’s about to start 5th grade at Beecher Prep, and if you’ve ever been the new kid then you know how hard that can be. The thing is Auggie’s just an ordinary kid, with an extraordinary face. But can he convince his new classmates that he’s just like them, despite appearances?

7th grade Reading: Will begin reading a post-apocalyptic science fiction novel called “The City of Ember” by Jeanna DuPrau. The story is about Ember, an underground city threatened by aging infrastructure. The young protagonist, Lina Mayfleet, and her friend, Doon Harrow (the second protagonist), follow clues left behind by the original builders of the City of Ember, to safety in the outside world.

8th grade Reading: Will be reading the novel “Wonder” by R.J.
