Week of January 15, 2018
This is the first week of the third nine weeks. We are half way done with this year! WOW! I am glad to be back at school and I hope everyone else is too! On Monday the students will take Unit #15 Spelling test and then we will start Unit #16. Math test will be given on Friday, January 19, 2018. The Show-n-Tell has been re-scheduled for Friday, January 19, 2018. Thank you. We spend time in class reviewing the facts and sight words but it is very important that you work at home with your child. Just a few minutes each evening and that will greatly help by reinforcing what we learn each day. For those of you that have been working at home with your child, Thank You! SPELLING – The students will be introduced to the new spelling words from Unit #16. spelling words. I will send the list of words home on Monday. The spelling test will be given on Friday, January 19, 2018.
PHONICS – The students will read short stories associated with the short vowels sounds they have previously learned.
LANGUAGE ARTS – The students will learn to use capital letters when writing the month’s of the year, and the day’s of the week.
GUIDED READING – I will continue to assess each student using the Benchmark A – Z Reading Levels.
MATH – The students will draw pictures and write number sentences to solve addition and subtraction problems. It is very important that your child learns his/her addition and subtraction facts. Unit #6 Test will be on Friday, January 19, 2018. The following are the practice worksheets. It is important that your child complete his/her own practice worksheets by themselves. If they have questions explain the process but please just do not provide answers for them. Thank you.
Tuesday – Worksheet 6 – 6. Study addition and subtraction facts.
Wednesday – Worksheet 6 – 7. Study addition and subtraction facts.
Thursday – STUDY FOR UNIT #6 TEST ON FRIDAY.
Friday – UNIT #6 TEST.
RELIGION – We will discuss that everything has a purpose and know that God made us to be loving people.. The students will also learn about Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton.

PLEASE TAKE 5 – 10 MINUTES IN THE EVENINGS TO REVIEW WITH YOUR CHILD THEIR ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION FACTS. ALSO JUST A FEW MINUTES EACH EVENING REVIEWING THEIR HIGH-FREQUENCY WORD LIST. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO SEND ONLY ONE HEALTHY SNACK WITH YOUR CHILD EACH DAY.
WE HAVE 18 STUDENTS IN OUR ROOM THIS YEAR IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEND IN A BIRTHDAY TREAT.
PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD WEAR THEIR GYM CLOTHES EVERY TUESDAY.
WE WILL ATTEND MASS ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 17, 2018 @ 8:30am.
REMINDER: IF THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE IS AT OR ABOVE 32 DEGREES THE STUDENTS WILL BE GOING OUTSIDE FOR RECESS. PLEASE REMEMBER TO SENT COATS, HATS, SCARVES, AND GLOVES WITH YOUR CHILD. THANK YOU.
WHEN YOUR CHILD’S BIRTHDAY IS APPROACHING PLEASE REMEMBER TO SEND THE TREAT SHEET IN BEFORE YOU BRING YOUR CHILD’S TREAT. WE HAVE SOME ALLERGIES IN OUR ROOM AND I LIKE TO GIVE NOTICE TO THOSE PARENTS BEFORE HAND.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO RETURN THE PRINCIPAL FOLDER EVERY TUESDAY. LUNCH MONEY FOR THE FOLLOWING WEEK IS DUE BY WEDNESDAY.
